PHNOM PENH—Jarod Hatch came out of retirement and gave Team Philippines a much-needed shot in the arm after securing his second medal in swimming at the 32nd Southeast Asian Games.

The 24-year-old Hatch collected a bronze in the men’s 50m butterfly in 23.89 seconds on Wednesday, resetting his own Philippine record of 24.27 seconds achieved during the national swim tryouts at New Clark City in Capas, Tarlac last February.

Two days ago, the California-based tanker got the silver in the men’s 100m butterfly.

Singapore’s Mikkel Jun Lee and Tzen Wei Teong finished 1-2 in the 50m event with a clocking of 23.45 seconds and 23.67 seconds.

Hatch came up short of a medal finish in the men’s 100m fly during the 2019 SEA Games in Manila before he decided to retire prior to the Hanoi Games last year.

He was also a part of the men’s 4x100m medley relay in 2019 that didn’t finish.
